   Lot of features for such a reasonably priced phone.
   I recently received the new UMIDIGI G100 phone and I have to say for a reasonably priced phone I am pleased with it. It arrived with a charged battery that allowed me to connect it to my older phone and easily transfer all my apps and contacts to it.
   I was able to easily set up and use all the security features of Screen lock, Face & Fingerprint Unlock. The large screen size allows to place several app shortcuts on each page.
   The camera quality is pretty good and for an amateur like me it simply acts as a point and shoot camera and takes nice clear pictures and even allows for panoramic photos.
   The screen display is very clear when watching videos and doesn’t seem to have any lag time. Checking my security cameras online with this phone allows me to see very clear images as seen in the screenshot of the street photo I’m sharing.
   The battery allows for a full day use and having a C-type cable makes for an easy connection when having to charge it. I’ve never had a phone with the NFC technology before and enjoy the benefit of not having to take out my credit card to make a payment in the stores.

   A Decent Budget Smartphone for a Great Price is a Very Good Deal
   The phone itself isn’t anything to write home about, but the fact that it can do 70-90% of what high-end phones can do (the 90% is for everyday tasks, the only area it’s lacking is for games and processor-intensive apps), all for around $110 after the current $20 off coupon makes this a great deal. All that’s left is to check it’s reliability the more and longer I use it, so I will update if this phone fails within six month of regular use.
   What I like about this particular UMIDIGI phone is the screen to cover ratio – if it wasn’t for the pretty big chin at the bottom, this phone might have one of the slimmest bezels for a budget phone. Still, at 6.9 inches of screen real estate, that’s pretty awesome. The screen quality itself isn’t that great, but it will do, especially when indoors or environments of not too much glare, like outdoors directly under the sun. But the 120Hz refresh rate brings it over the top into the good instead of bad category.
   The other thing I am impressed about is the for sure above image/picture quality of the cameras. Unless you are using it in the dark, most photo situations will result in very decent photos. The macro camera is mediocre with distortion, but the main camera is good enough for social media posts.
   Finally, what stands out for me is the 6,000mAh battery, which is bigger than any Samsung or Apple phone, so that’s really appreciated, especially when your work is away from a desk or charger. The other things that are appreciated are how slim and pretty lightweight this phone is, especially given its 6.9″ screen size.
   The processor is something I have never heard of before – Unisoc T615 – and is perhaps its weakest feature. If you’re just using your everyday apps, it’s fine. Just don’t do any video editing or graphic-intensive app. And don’t run too many apps at the same time, as the 6GB of real RAM (the other 6 is fake, virtual RAM) will fill up real fast and slow down the experience. I also recommend that you don’t install more than 50 apps, as when the memory fills up, there is a noticeable slowdown in the overall performance. Just use this phone as your essential phone, for just the apps you use daily. That’s why it makes a great secondary/travel/emergency phone, and those who use it as their main phone should do so with those caveats.
   Overall this is a decent 4-star phone, but after the $20 off coupon which brings it down to $110, I’m more inclined to give it five stars. For sure if it ever dips under $100 it would be an awesome deal. Just know what you’d be getting into before you buy it.

   The G100 is part of the G series of Umidigi phones. Usually they are the middle of the line in terms of specs compared to the A series, but this G100 is up there in terms of specs. The T615 processor is relatively new, and has good ratings online. The device comes with 6gbs of ram, but with memory extension, it doubles to 12gbs. Almost all Umidigi look the same with its blocky shape. The only difference physically compared to the A series is that there is no programmable button on the left side of the device.
   This phone comes with a 6.9” screen. My old Umidigi A15T has a 6.7”, and the difference between the two is not really noticeable. Dimension wise, this is fractionally larger all around.
   There isn’t much of an impact with how it is in the hand. It is still possible for one hand use, though two hands to stabilize it is still my preferred method.
   The 6.9” screen has a 1640×720 resolution, which would be a medium quality screen. But using this, it is perfectly fine. For gaming or using videos, it is perfectly serviceable.
   The screen features the standard Umidigi bezels and teardrop front camera. I am used to the teardrop, as all my previous phones have this, but it seems to interfere more than usual here. A lot of games that I play, that spot was blocking important information.
   The phone comes with Android 14. It was able to run all the apps I was previously using without any issues. With Umidigi’s, there likely won’t be upgrades to the version, but it would be a few years before there are any concerns with app compatibility.
   One major difference this has over other Umidigi devices is the camera placement. Whereas most older models have them on the sides, this is a giant circle in the middle of the device. It is quite pronounced. While it still won’t lay down flat, it is now more balanced and stable because the camera piece is no longer offset on the phone.
   The one thing though about the camera piece being this large and down the middle is that the index finger tends to rest on that piece while holding. It can lead to fingerprints all across that area.
   The device is fairly quick. I didn’t experience any major issues during my daily use. There were a few instances where I was playing video games that seemed to lag a little bit, but it was only for a few seconds and didn’t affect gameplay.
   Typically one of the weak spots of Umidigi’s are their cameras. At the back, the phone comes with a 50 mp main camera and macro camera. At the front is a 16 front camera. Under good lighting, the pictures are fairly good. It has good colours, though the contrast is a bit high. Under low lighting, the imagery does suffer. Even in night mode, there is a lot of noise in the photos and doesn’t look that great.
   One thing I would like, and this is an Android thing, is the ability to see all the apps in alphabetical order. Usually that can be accessed by scrolling up on the screen, but that feature seems to have disappeared. The different panes still show all the apps, but are just harder to locate.
   It may not be as well known as the mainstream brands, but for under $200, this phone offers everything you want from a smartphone. It has a large screen with good resolution and colours. It features the latest stock Android OS with no bloatware attached. There is a large battery that can last two days before charging. It has two sim card slots, where one can be used for a micro sd card. It has a large list of network bands, making this a great not just for Canada’s network, but also abroad. Very impressed with this device.
   Five stars.
