Love this bag!!
This is perfect for a weekend trip (2-4 days) and is great quality! I love the sturdeness of the straps and the back panneling, and the clamshell opening makes packing and unpacking super easy. I will say it is rather large so if youre palnning on taking this on a plane, it may be too big to count as a personal item.

Awesome backpack for daily use and travel
I LOVE this backpack. Figured I’d write a review in the hope that this new “Voyager” line of luggage from TNF gets more attention and doesn’t get discontinued. It seems well designed.
I use a small backpack for everything: it’s with me when I carry anything more than a phone and wallet: on transit, on roadtrips, on the plane (under the seat). For a couple decades that backpack for me was a variant of SwissGear 3636, in which I appreciated the sturdy handle, the big outside pocket (usable for shoes) with extendible straps (for strapping jackets and whatnot), and the variety of compartments (laptop, roomy main one, pouch on top). I was ready for a change â something more stylish, but just as practical â and after looking at many brands I finally found the Base Camp Voyager. (I missed this model on my first visit to a North Face store as they keep these separate from all their outdoorsy backpacks.)
Although it’s boxy (being part of a luggage family), I like the streamlined look and find the fit sufficiently comfortable. The rectangular shape makes it space efficient: I knew I made the right choice when I discovered that I could fit (just barely) my peculiar 11″x17″ drawing pad or several vinyl records (13″x13″) into the main compartment. The laptop compartment isn’t quite 17″ tall, but I bet it would fit any large laptop. The front has two smaller compartments, upper one full of small mesh pockets, like the front compartment of a SwissGear backpack. Although it lacks a large outside pocket, the two side “water bottle pockets” are large enough for many shoes. There are multiple loops for attaching things to the back, but you have to provide your own straps. Seems like the material will stand up to moisture fairly well.
As some reviewers have pointed out, it may exceed some airlines’ dimensions for under-the-seat personal item, but I can attest that, unless stuffed to the gills, the 26L model CAN fit under the seat, albeit sticking out a bit. That has never been a problem for me, but I suppose some airlines may be stricter on this front. I love that it’s small enough to be my day pack, but big enough for a short trip if you pack light.
