    Awesome generator!
Bought this Generac 24kw whole house generator to have automatic power transfer during outages, it came with a 200amp transfer switch and a bunch of useful features. It was packed well and bolted on a pallet, the cardboard carton that surrounded it was a little worse for wear but the contents were fine (undamaged). Note: the generator requires a battery but it’s not included, and if you live in cold weather country you’ll want to order the cold kit which includes a battery warmer and oil filter warmer (worth the money). Also, if you have home wireless there are several features you can take advantage of including Generac’s mobile link which allows for remote monitoring and alerts etc. (visit their site and read more there). I must say the unit is much quieter than I though it would be, I fired the unit up to initialize and we let it run for a bit while we reignited it etc., by wife was in a bedroom right next to where the unit is located and she did not hear a thing. Standing right in front of it with the covers on and shut its extremely quiet, very impressive! (Note: I’m using LP gas and I understand that is quieter than natural gas. (This generator will use either once you set it up right, just a lever to move.) overall very happy with my purchase. Had to use customer support for a few minor things, they were quick and professional.

Very happy – money well spent.
I feel sorry for those who received damaged/dented products, so I feel lucky that my unit arrived undamaged and in perfect condition. Having said that, I see how a flimsy layer of cardboard sheet attached to the base pallet may not provide much protection during shipping. Perhaps Generac should consider investing another $25 for a fully framed out protection.
Speaking of delivery, my generator arrived 90 minutes later of the delivery window’s upper limit. Since it was a Saturday, there was no-one available to talk to. Phone calls went to voicemail or calling the corporate number message was “mailbox full”. Keep that in mind when you schedule delivery outside of normail business hours M-F.
Prepare to buy a battery (about $60) and if you live in cold climate, a cold weather kit
(around $200) to keep your battery and oild filter warm during winter. None of these are included.
Currently working on hooking up the unit. Already ran the gas line and the wires to the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATF).
I am giving a 5 star review in anticipation of everything working out as expected. Should something not, I will come back and update my review.
30 day update: We had a 1 hr unexpecred power outage. The generator kicked off and ran just fine. Automatically turned off once the power came back on. Very happy customer.
60 day update: Additional 2 power outages, each lasting about 8 hours. Generator worked flawlessly. Fired up in 10 seconds after the outage, ran smoothly providing electricity to the entire house and turned off automatically after utility power came back on.
VERY HAPPY – money well spent.

Needed back up for medical reasons to run medical equipment.
While I have an installer, because I have to have back up generator for medical reasons propane companies refuse to sell propane to run the generator. They say they will not make enough profit selling propane to me. I called generac and they didn’t care if I could power my new generator or not. The fuel is very much a part of the operation of the generators Generac has an interest. Not only that, because backing up medical equipment which with out causes a medical emergency. It is as if you are disabled or elderly, we chose to discriminate and not sell you fuel. Complaint filed with US office of civil rights. Maybe propane companies can learn to help the elderly and disabled with medical conditions. Generac as well should care if customers are denied fuel.

    Everything as Advertised
    Arrived in original packaging.
Initial issues registering the generator with Mobile Link were related to the Mobile Link platform.

    Great product, bad delivery
I believe in Generac quality, I purchased a temp Generac for my daughter and à whole house gen for my wife and I. It came with a bent access panel. I tried to get a replacement panel but got the run around. Amazon offered to refund so I could buy another. I have electrician coming so didn’t have time to wait and take a chance the second one will have a worse damage. The over-all unit is good and I straightened out the panel best I could and looks much better. Not perfect but better. I am looking forward to getting it connected. The fuel tanks (LP) will be here soon. Placing the pad base this week. I will keep you posted.

    Works as described!
    Solid heavy weight home generator.
INSTALL: All parts in crate except a battery. Easy to install fuel lines but most buyers will need a “permited” electrician for final panel hook up. Instructons easy to follow if you have some background. Customer service (real humans) was very friendly knowledgable and helpful and picked up within 5 min for each call.
NOISE: Obviously a large generator….Too loud to converse standing next to it running but it did run both my 5 ton AC’s during double start up and all the normal house parts during summer testing.
PRO TIP: Hunt down a correct sized battery sooner than later so not to hold up any testing. Buggers are not a common size out here in God’s country

Take your money real quick but having sooooo much trouble returning it to get a larger one. Would not buy through Amazon again for this large of an item

I love the generator. It has come on within 1 minute of the 3 power outages we have experienced since its install. It exercises twice a month for 5 minutes.
The only downside was, the Transfer switch which was included with this model is not appropriate for whole house residential hook up. If you want that you should order Model# 7171. Then order theTransfer switch separately.

I was really looking forward to getting a Generac as we lose the power quite often in our area. This is a big purchase so before ordering I did quite a bit of research. I was looking for something that was gasoline powered and upon reading the description it said it was gasoline powered, so I decided to go ahead and purchase. A couple of weeks after receiving the Generac I was able to arrange for someone to hook it up for me but when they unboxed the unit it was discovered that it is powered by propane. Needless to say I wasn’t very happy. I contacted the company and they said I could return the Generac at my expense and I would also be charged a 20% restocking fee! I do not think that I should be penalized for a mistake that they obviously made in their description off the item and might I add are continuing to make. Unfortunately now I will have to wait until the spring to get it hooked up and it will end up costing me more money than I had intended, as along with the added installation cost, I will have to purchase a propane tank.

It is my second generator, first was in 2006, but because we are traveling we need to know status of the generator because is important in our situation. This generator has WiFi and I can control status from any place of the world.
Disadvantage – long time for delivery (100 miles take almost a week) and price over twice what I paid for old one and old one had completely set of wireling and materials for completing a job. Right now this materials cost a lot.
I hope that quality will be OK

Back up home power, Amazon delivered but Generac customer support did not. Generator has a low oil pressure warning fault and kicks off line. Filed a warranty claim. Local dealer, Whitepine Electric did the service call after a month, didn’t have parts, said they’d be back, that was two months Ago. Generac hasn’t followed up. Purchased in July, It’s now almost Christmas and still doesn’t work. Local dealer aren’t interested in serving if it wasn’t bought by them. Amazon needs to pressure Generac to service their products.
